The following page describes the sending features available from ReadNotify, and also allows users to select which tracking options will be applied when the extension   .readnotify.com   is manually added to the end of a recipients email address.

Each of these options also has a specific command which, when used, will over-ride your default settings. For instance; if your Manual Tracking Option is set to Invisible but you want to manually send a Self-Destructing email, you can add the extension   .selfdestruct.readnotify.com   to your recipients address and your email will be transmitted as a Self-Destructing email regardless of your preset option.

Note:   The settings changes offered here are intended for people who are not using our ActiveTracker plugin - as the options on this plugin will over-ride any manual ones you have chosen.

     Recommended Tracking    .readnotify.com   (no over-ride)
This is our recommended option - it provides simple and reliable tracking to the majority of your recipients.
Note:

It will not be obvious that you are tracking the email using this option, but your recipients can view a ReadNotify Courtesy message in the expanded headers of your email if they wish to. Recommended tracking also uses MDN's, and offers a choice of banner selections.

To select 'Recommended' as your manual tracking default, visit your defaults page and click the "Recommended Tracking Defaults" button.
     Invisible    .silent.readnotify.com

This option removes the ReadNotify Courtesy message from your expanded headers and disables MDN's (optional). Any ReadNotify banners you have previously selected will not appear on emails sent with this feature.
Note:

Sending emails with Invisible tracking can sometimes decrease the consistency and reliability of your tracking reports.
To select 'Invisible' as your manual tracking default, visit your defaults page and click the "Invisible Tracking Defaults" button.


Ensured-Receipts and Retractable    .ensured.readnotify.com

Sending an email using our Ensured-Receipts option will guarantee that a tracking report is generated when it has been opened (even if your recipient opens your message offline). Your recipient will be aware that you are using ReadNotify if you choose this option, and may be asked to click a link in order to receive your message.
Retractable:   Sending an email using our Ensured-Receipts feature allows you to retract (erase) the body of your message (not the headers) providing it has not yet been opened. To do this, click on the "retract" link to the right of the emails history on your Personal Tracking Page.

Note:

Any attachments you send will not be ensured and may be opened without being tracked. Ensured-Receipts emails are initially stored on our server rather than being delivered directly to your recipient.

Important:   Always send a test email after changing your settings to verify that your tracking is working the way you intended.

This option will digitally sign your email and insert a time-stamp certificate. This certificate irrevocably links the body and headers of this email to the date and time they were dispatched - and may be offered as court admissible evidence if required.
This digital signature may be verified using any popular cryptographic product, or with our ReadNotify Digital Certificate Signature Display & Verification service.

Your recipient will also receive this time-stamped certificate at the end of the email unless you choose to hide it using   .hidecert.certified.readnotify.com

We recommend that you also choose to receive Opening Certificates (from your Notifications & Reports page) when sending Certified emails.

Self-Destructing and Retractable     .selfdestruct.readnotify.com

The default for this is 60 seconds - see below for more sending options
Emails sent 'Self-Destructing' will automatically destruct in the time you choose, or when the email has been closed (whichever comes first). Some protection is also provided to prevent the saving and printing of these emails. Your recipient must open these emails via a link, which starts the self-destructing countdown.

Retractable:   Sending an email using our Self-Destruct feature allows you to retract (erase) the body of your message (not the headers) providing it has not yet been opened. To do this, click on the "retract" link to the right of the emails history on your Personal Tracking Page.

Alternative Sending Options:

The Self-Destructing default is 60 seconds - however, you can choose how long your recipient may view your message by manipulating the timing manually. For example:   .selfdestruct.in1h.readnotify.com   will expire one hour after the email is opened (or when closed). Choose "m" for minutes and "s" for seconds (max 100 hours).

Notes:

Self-Destructing emails are initially stored on our server, rather than being delivered directly to your recipient. Any attachments you send will not self-destruct and may be opened without producing a receipt (we don't recommend you send attachments with this feature). Self-Destructing emails will also be blocked from being printed, forwarded or copied on most email clients, and any URL's you include in these emails will not be clickable

Block-Print     .noprint.readnotify.com

This option prevents your recipients from being able to print your email. Some protection is also provided in regards to copying your email but there are no guarantees that your recipient will not be able to make a copy of your email in some form

Language Translation     .??-??.readnotify.com   (replace ? with the translation choices listed below)

This feature uses AltaVista's BabelFish translation service to convert your email from one language into another. You must use this feature from our plugin, or manually following these instructions - it cannot be set as a default.
Simply add the appropriate extension (listed below) to translate your message from one language to another. Your original message (in the language you wrote it in) will be included with the transmission.

For example - an email to: drakecn@yahoo.com written in English, and translated to French will be:   drakecn@yahoo.com.en-fr.readnotify.com

Note:

If for any reason the BabelFish service is unavailable, your email will be sent without translation.
